On the Road Again

I started this blog in the summer of 2010, when I rode my bike from Seattle to Boston to celebrate my Big Five-O and just generally have fun. I had so much fun with both the riding & the writing that from time to time I post more stories & photos of my adventures on the road (and trail).

Making some decisions...

Finally got decisive and plunked down a deposit to join a group ride from Seattle, WA to Jackson Hole, WY. (It actually starts in Everett so we can dip our wheels in the Pacific Ocean before we head east.) From Jackson across Wyoming, South Dakota and Minnesota I'll follow the general route of the group but probably a day or two behind - I plan to take some time to find bars with cable TV & watch the World Cup.

I was going to take the train to Portland, Oregon (after, yes, dipping my wheels in the sea) and go from there to Portland, Maine - so I'm thinking I should end up in Bar Harbor, Maine - also just north of Portland. (Sort of going for symmetry...)

Now I just have to figure out how to get from the Mackinac Bridge down to Ann Arbor, and decide whether to veer south to Pittsburgh or plow on across Canada (and go by Niagra Falls!). See more of my family? Or avoid a several-hundred-mile detour? I'm not that decisive, yet.
